About The Program
The Disaster Response program of Catholic Charities of SETX strives to meet the needs of our nine county service area to assist with mitigation, preparation, relief, and recovery efforts in response to and in anticipation of disasters. The program diligently coordinates these efforts with other organizations throughout the region. It is our mission to provide services impartially and to focus our efforts on individuals considered most vulnerable in times of disaster.
The program provides temporary case management to assist residents affected by a natural disaster within the nine county service area. Client’s within the disaster response program are partnered with a disaster case manager who aligns with available resources in the area to assist with repairing/rebuilding the client’s home, replacing furniture, and purchasing appliances and household items. Catholic Charities SETX provides financial assistance to aide in the replacement of the items for those who qualify. Although Catholic Charities of SETX does not provide labor resources of its own, partnerships with other entities can assist with purchasing necessary materials.
In addition, the program provides financial assistance year-round to individuals facing temporary financial hardships or crisis. With financial assistance, the agency is able to assist residents within the nine county service area with rent, deposits and utilities payments. Long-term case management services are available over the course of multiple months to help create a plan, set goals to overcome obstacles, and recover from the temporary hardship.
